About this tool

Shrink a PDF by choosing a quality level, or ask for a target size in KB and let the tool lower quality until it fits. Pages are re-saved as pictures in your browser, so text can no longer be selected. Your file is never uploaded.

How to compress PDF online

  1. Choose the PDF to compress.
  2. Pick a quality level, or tick the box to aim for a target size in KB.
  3. Check the before and after size, then download.

Frequently asked questions

Can I compress a PDF to 100 KB?

You can set a target such as 100 KB and the tool lowers quality and resolution to try to reach it. Very small targets on long documents may not be reachable, and the result will show the final size.

Will text still be selectable after compressing?

No. Compression re-saves each page as an image, so selectable text and links are lost. If that matters, keep the original too.

Is my PDF uploaded to compress it?

No. All compression runs in your browser and the original file stays on your device.
