150 KB is a common ceiling on job portals, college admission forms and government uploads, usually for a CV, a certificate or a scanned ID. It is roomy enough for a clean one or two page document and tight for anything with photos.
The size budget is shared across all pages, so the page count decides how readable the result is. At 150 KB, two pages get about 75 KB each, which is fine for scanned text. Ten pages get about 15 KB each, which turns pages soft and blurry.
If the form only asks for some pages, split out just those pages first, then compress the smaller file. A black-and-white scan also shrinks far better than a colour one, so converting to grayscale first can help. Need a smaller or larger limit? See 50 KB, 200 KB or 500 KB.
To reach a small size the tool lowers image quality and then resolution, and pages are re-saved as pictures, so text can no longer be selected or searched. The result may still miss 150 KB for long or photo-heavy files; the final size is always shown.
Compress PDF is free and needs no account. Your file is processed in your browser and never uploaded.
It depends on the content. Plain scanned text often fits two to five pages. Pages with photos or colour backgrounds need far more room, so split out the pages you need.
Try a target a little lower, such as 140 KB, because some portals count 1 KB as 1,000 bytes and others as 1,024. Removing one page or converting to grayscale first also helps.
No. Everything runs in your browser and the original file stays on your device.
