2 MB is a very common limit for email forms, visa and tax portals, university applications and support tickets. A PDF slightly above it usually needs only a light quality drop that is hard to notice.
The target is pre-filled at 1,800 KB because sites define a megabyte differently, either 1,000,000 or 1,048,576 bytes. Aiming a little under both avoids a rejection by a few bytes. Raise the number if you know the exact limit.
Most large PDFs are large because of scanned or photo pages. If the result is still too big, split the file into parts and send them separately, or try a smaller limit such as 1 MB. To get a clean file, merge the parts after you compress.
Pages are re-saved as pictures, so text can no longer be selected, searched or copied. If the file is already under the target, compressing it further only lowers quality, so keep your original.
Compress PDF is free and needs no account. Your file is processed in your browser and never uploaded.
Some sites count 2 MB as 2,000,000 bytes and others as 2,097,152. 1,800 KB is under both. Type another number if your site is specific.
A little, mainly in photos and scanned pages. For a file only slightly over 2 MB the change is usually hard to see.
No. Everything runs in your browser and the original file stays on your device.
