200 KB suits short scanned documents: a signed form, a letter, a certificate or a few pages of a statement. It is double the budget of a 100 KB limit, which is often the difference between a readable page and a blurry one.
With 200 KB, a document of 4 pages has about 50 KB per page and 10 pages about 20 KB per page. That is why short files usually come out well and long ones look softer. If your PDF is long, check which pages the form actually needs and split the rest away before compressing.
Files that were already compressed by another app or exported from a phone scanner may be close to the limit already. In that case the tool can only make a small saving, and if it cannot beat your original it keeps the original and says so.
The tool lowers image quality first and resolution only if needed. Text becomes part of the page picture, so it cannot be selected or searched afterwards. Keep your original if you need the text.
Compress PDF is a DocPro Pro tool on the web. You can open it, choose your file and set every option without an account; the final step asks you to sign in to DocPro Pro (A$5.99/month after a 7-day free trial, cancel anytime). Free tools never ask.
For one or two pages, often yes. For many pages of full-colour scans it can be tight. Converting to grayscale first usually saves space if colour is not needed.
The tool keeps your original and tells you the compressed version was not smaller, so you never get a worse file by accident.
This tool works on one PDF at a time. Merge them first if the site wants a single file, then compress the merged result.
