About this task

PDFs from other countries, scans and exports from design tools often come in US Letter, Legal or a custom size, and an A4 printer or an upload form expects A4. Putting the pages onto A4 means they print without scaling surprises and look the same to everyone.

Every page is scaled to fit inside the A4 sheet, keeping its proportions, and centred. You can add a margin, keep portrait for all pages or let each page keep its own orientation, and choose to only shrink pages that are too big instead of enlarging small ones.

Text and drawings stay sharp because the pages are placed as vector content. Scanned pages stay at the resolution of the scan.

Resized pages are static copies: links and form fields on them stop working, and a page with a different shape gets empty space on two sides rather than being cropped.

How to do it

  1. Choose your PDF. A password-protected file asks for its password on your device.
  2. Check that A4 is selected, then choose the orientation and a margin if you want one.
  3. Press Resize PDF.
  4. Download the new PDF and look through the pages.

Resize PDF pages is free and needs no account. Your file is processed in your browser and never uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Is anything cut off?

No. The whole page is scaled to fit inside A4, so a page with a different shape gets empty space instead of being cropped.

Do links and form fields still work?

No. Fill in forms first, then resize.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. It is resized in your browser.
