10 KB is the smallest limit you are likely to meet, found on some signature, thumb-impression and stamp upload boxes on exam and application forms. It is about one hundredth of a normal phone photo.
The tool lowers quality first, then steps the pixel size down until the file fits. A dark signature on plain white paper survives this well. A face or a detailed photo ends up tiny and soft, so check it is still usable.
Crop the picture tight around the signature first with Edit image, because blank margins use up pixels. If the form also states exact width and height, resize to those first, then compress. For slightly larger limits see 20 KB and 50 KB.
To reach 10 KB the picture loses a lot of detail and size. Keep your original and check the result still looks right. If it cannot reach the target the result is marked as not reachable.
Compress image is free and needs no account. Your file is processed in your browser and never uploaded.
Usually, if it is dark ink on white paper and cropped close. Use a pen, not a pencil, and photograph it in even light.
Crop away more of the blank space, or type a slightly lower target such as 9 KB. Some sites count a KB as 1,000 bytes.
No. Everything runs in your browser and the original file stays on your device.
