About this task

HEIC is the default photo format on iPhones. It saves space, but many websites, Windows programs and older devices cannot open it. JPG works almost everywhere, so converting is often the simplest fix.

Add one photo or a whole batch. The tool opens each HEIC file on your device and saves a JPG, at the quality you choose. Several files download together as a ZIP. In Chrome, Firefox and Edge a small open-source decoder (about 2 MB) is loaded the first time you add a HEIC file; Safari uses its own.

You can pick PNG or WebP instead of JPG in the full tool. For a form with a file size limit, convert first and then use Compress JPG to 100KB or a nearby target.

JPG is lossy, so each converted photo loses a little detail compared with the HEIC original, and the file is usually larger. Location and camera details are not copied over, and Live Photo motion is dropped. Keep the originals if you want the best quality.

How to do it

  1. Add your HEIC photos, or drop them onto the page.
  2. JPG is already selected. Adjust the quality if you like.
  3. Press Convert.
  4. Download the JPG files, or the ZIP when there are several.

Convert images is free and needs no account. Your file is processed in your browser and never uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Does converting HEIC to JPG lose quality?

A little, because JPG is lossy. At the default 90% quality the difference is hard to see at normal size.

Can I convert many HEIC photos at once?

Yes. Add as many as your device can handle. Several results download as one ZIP.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. The conversion happens in your browser and the files stay on your device.
