About the United States visa photo size
The United States visa preset in DocPro uses a photo of 2 × 2 in, which is 600 × 600 px when saved at 300 dpi for printing. Head height is set to 25–35 mm, measured from the top of the head to the chin. The preset's note reads: “Plain white background.”
For online applications the preset lists 600 × 600 px, up to 240 KB. Online uploads accept 600 × 600 up to 1200 × 1200 px. For the background, the preset lists white (#FFFFFF); the tool keeps your photo's own background until you pick a colour under Background, and then replaces it on your device.
Rules change: always check the official government page before you submit.
Compared with the common 35 × 45 mm size, this photo is 15.8 mm wider and 5.8 mm taller. 2 other presets use the same size: India visa, United States passport.
In the tool, the crown guide sits about 4.6 mm below the top edge (9 percent of the photo height) and the chin guide is placed from the head size above. These are DocPro's framing guides, not an official measurement, so compare your result with the official sample photos.
How to make a United States visa photo
- Choose a clear, front-facing photo (JPG, PNG or WebP). It is opened on your device and not uploaded.
- The United States visa size (2 × 2 in) is already selected in the Size box. If you opened the wrong page, search for another country there.
- Drag and zoom the photo so the top of the head touches the top guide and the chin sits in the green band, or try Auto-place head and check it.
- Optionally replace the background, then download a digital JPEG or a print sheet on 4 × 6 in or A4 paper.
