About the Malaysia passport photo size

The Malaysia passport preset in DocPro uses a photo of 35 × 50 mm (1.38 × 1.97 in), which is 413 × 591 px when saved at 300 dpi for printing. The preset data lists no head height for this document, so the on-screen guides use DocPro's default of 70 to 80 percent of the photo height (35–40 mm). The preset's note reads: “Plain white background.”

The preset data has no separate online upload size or file-size limit for this document. If the website you use sets one, enter the limit in the Maximum file size field before you download. For the background, the preset lists white (#FFFFFF); the tool keeps your photo's own background until you pick a colour under Background, and then replaces it on your device.

Rules change: always check the official government page before you submit.

Compared with the common 35 × 45 mm size, this photo is 5 mm taller. No other preset in DocPro uses exactly this size.

In the tool, the crown guide sits about 4.5 mm below the top edge (9 percent of the photo height) and the chin guide is placed from the head size above. These are DocPro's framing guides, not an official measurement, so compare your result with the official sample photos.

How to make a Malaysia passport photo

  1. Choose a clear, front-facing photo (JPG, PNG or WebP). It is opened on your device and not uploaded.
  2. The Malaysia passport size (35 × 50 mm) is already selected in the Size box. If you opened the wrong page, search for another country there.
  3. Drag and zoom the photo so the top of the head touches the top guide and the chin sits in the green band, or try Auto-place head and check it.
  4. Optionally replace the background, then download a digital JPEG or a print sheet on 4 × 6 in or A4 paper.
