About this tool

Find out what changed between two versions of a PDF. DocPro reads the text of both files, compares them word by word and shows the old and new text side by side with removed and added words highlighted. It runs in your browser, so neither file is uploaded.

How to compare two PDFs and see the changes, free

  1. Add the original PDF and the revised PDF.
  2. Press Compare PDFs and wait while the text is read and compared.
  3. Step through the changes, then download a text or HTML report if you need one.

Frequently asked questions

What does the comparison look at?

Only the text of the pages. Layout, images, fonts and colours are not compared, so a change that is purely visual will not show up.

Can I compare scanned PDFs?

Not directly, because a scan has no text to compare. Run OCR to PDF on each scan first to add a text layer, then compare the results.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Both PDFs are read and compared in your browser and never leave your device.
